sleeping commando

Friday night I was scrapbooking so Russ was in charge of getting the girls to bed. After bath time he told Anna Claire to go into her room and put on underwear and her PJs. Much to my surprise on Saturday morning she didn't have on underwear. And to make it worse she had been outside in her PJs playing in the mulch by our swing set - that couldn't have felt good! When asked where her panties were she immediately said, "They fell off!" Then she said, "Daddy took them away." Then, and finally the truth, she said, "I couldn't find my Dora panties so I didn't put any on for the night."

name calling

In the car yesterday after church Anna Claire said, "Lizzie, you're a nut!" And Lizzie said, "No I'm not. I'm a bunny rabbit!"

truthfulness

On Friday we took Hunta to the airport to fly to Paris. She'll be gone about 10 days. She told Anna Claire, "I'm going to miss you while I'm gone." Anna Claire said, "I'll miss you too but not a lot."

adorable defiance

Tonight, after Lizzie had gotten up about 3 times already I went in to rescue the book that fell under her bed. Then I said, "If you get out of bed one more time you will get a spanking and it will hurt." Her reply, "No it won't, Mommy!" If she weren't so adorable ...

understanding the 3 year old mind

Last night Russ was going to read the girls a book before bedtime. When Lizzie saw the book she jumped up and said, "No Daddy! You can't read that book - it's weird!" The book was "Click Clack Moo." So she ran and got another book by the exact same author called "Giggle Giggle Quack." Any thoughts as to why one was weird and the other wasn't???

beach trip

We had a great beach trip! The girls had lots of fun in the sand. On Sunday we saw about 4 jellyfish in the water so that was the end of our time in the water.
On the way home Monday Anna Claire said she needed to use the potty when we were no where near a bathroom. So I pulled the car over on the side of the road and pulled her pants down and held her up so she could go potty. After about 2-3 minutes of this she said, "Well, it's not coming out now!" We loaded back up in the car and waited until we got to Enterprise.

packing up...

We are leaving to go to the beach today and the girls are sooooo excited! I started packing their bags yesterday and I left Anna Claire's bag on her bedroom floor. When I went to get her up from naptime she was asleep on the floor using her packed bag as a pillow. She also wrapped the straps around her body in case we made a quick departure. I love my "ready to go" child!

As I am typing this Lizzie is standing in the playroom in full princess attire yelling "PRINCE!" I just realized I am the prince she is referring to! So funny!

confessions of a 3 year old

Riding in the car today Lizzie told me, "Mommy, I pick my nose and eat my boogers during naptime."

moo cows

We went to my grandmother's house the other day. The girls call it the farm. She has a small garden and cows and lots of land. When we got there the cows were not up by the house but the girls wanted them to come where we could see them. Grannie proceeded to call the cows which is so funny because they actually come when they hear her. So the cows came up from the creek and all 9 of them were lined up and one lifted her tail and started urinating. Anna Claire thought that was interesting.
Today in the car, out of the blue, Anna Claire asked my sister, "Aunt Paula, have you ever seen a cow tinkle out of it's tail?"

how do babies get in tummy's?

We went to a baby shower last night for one of Russ's co-workers. Lizzie wondered where the baby was so I told her he was in Mrs. Catherine's tummy. She happily accepted that answer and moved on. Anna Claire was contemplating the thought of a baby in a tummy and she said to Catherine, "Did you eat that baby up?"

questions

Anna Claire is hysterical! Tonight she called Lizzie to the potty to see her "huge" poop and Lizzie appropriately responded with,"Wow, Anna Claire, that's really big!" Anna Claire's next question was directed toward me: "Mommy, do these poops go up to God?" So funny!

On a sweet note... We took Lizzie for her 3 year old appt with our pediatrician today and he asked them both their favorite sport. Anna Claire said, "Playing with my daddy!" So sweet!!!

ready for the royal ball

Should anyone have to face Princess Aurora and Belle at 630am? Anna Claire and Lizzie were up and ready for the Ball before school on Wednesday. I prefer to wake up in stages. First stage: able to read. Quiet thoughts and silence in the early mornings as I spend time with God. Second stage: shower! Still quiet and by myself. Third stage: make-up and making breakfast. This particular day I was bombarded with a loud "It's wake-up time!!!" Anna Claire and Lizzie came in during the second stage disrupting the quiet. Ready to play! It was time for the royal ball - complete with ball gowns, shoes and jewelry. Nothing like princess shoes on hardwood floors. The girls had a great time at the ball! "Let them praise His name with the dance; let them sing praises to Him..." Psalm 149:3

School's back...

Yeah!!! We have had an awesome summer but school is back in session! Anna Claire did not want to go in her classroom but when I picked her up she said she had a great time. Lizzie walked happily into her room. When I asked if she made a new friend she told me "Sonya Lee." Sonya Lee is a character from Little People and Lizzie got to play with her in her classroom. Maybe I should have specified a living friend! It was an all-around big day for Lizzie because she got to take a juice box in her lunch box. Big Time! I told her she could take one as long as she told her teacher when she needed to potty! Also, Lizzie was excited because the little girl from her class last year that took her toys is not in her class this year.
