Footies!

Lizzie has been counting the days until we could shop for new footie pajamas! Yesterday was the day and she was so excited! It's not really cold enough for them but it did get down to 50 degrees last night.
Russ made the point that they might be too old for footie pjs but I reminded him of the pair I bought for my brother at Christmas! A 35 year grown man is too old for footie pajamas! Our girls look precious, especially in comparison:)

stuffed up

Over the weekend Anna Claire, Lizzie and I went to a family wedding in Tennessee with my mother-in-law, sister-in-law, Ellie, and Ginnie. The girls were so excited to stay in a hotel!!! Anna Claire got to share a bed with her beloved Ellie so Lizzie and I shared a bed. I told her today she was my BaBa bear and she said, "I can't be your BaBa bear. I'm not all stuffyed up like BaBa. I am full of bones. I'll have to get you a stuffyed up baby."
So cute!

This morning Lizzie thanked me for giving her a cup that matched her skirt! What does this mean for the teenage years????

despite the flu

Lizzie has become the next casualty of the flu! However, despite her misfortune she is still able to dress so well!
A blue-flowered shirt (minus the pants!) with striped pink socks under pink sandals. The crowning conclusion to this outfit is her red sash! She even wore the sash to the doctor today and fortunately for us all she also wore pants to see the doctor.
Doesn't Lizzie's outfit remind you of Cindy Brady and the short dresses she wore on the Brady Bunch?

boy troubles - already...

This has been a LONG week! Anna Claire had her flu vaccine on Saturday and has had a fever off and on since Monday. Finally today I took her to the doctor and he thinks it's the flu even though her test came back negative.
She has missed some school this week and tonight she told Russ:
"I can't quit thinking about John Paul."
Russ said, "Who's John Paul?"
She replied, "He's my friend at school and I just keep thinking about him."
Russ said, "Do you like him?"
She answered, "I do like him and I think about him too much."
Has this already started???

Pray that the rest of us DO NOT get the flu - especially Hunta who has spent LOTS of time with us this week. She has a trip coming up soon! No one wants to be sick on a plane.

2 funnies

1) Today when Russ took Anna Claire to school he was trying to pick some music on his IPOD for them to listen to. He picked a cd that has toned down praise music. After they listened for a minute he said, "Anna Claire, that music is a little too mellow for Monday morning." She said, "Yeah daddy, that music is too yellow."

2) I made sesame chicken (without the sesame seeds) for supper tonight and all 4 of us love it. Russ was in the middle of praying and Lizzie said, "Don't make it a long one tonight. I'm hungry!"

on the job

Today Lizzie and went with Hunta to shop for some clothes for her upcoming trip to Greece. Before we met Hunta I said, "Lizzie, we have to help Hunta. She hates to shop but she needs new clothes." Lizzie said, "Mommy, I am on the job!" And she was too! She helped Hunta pick out colors and went with her in the dressing room and gave her opinion appropriately. So sweet!

Labor Day Weekend

We had a great Labor Day weekend! We went to Callaway Gardens to visit with Russ's sister and the cousins! Phillip and Clayton taught Anna Claire how to play the Wii - Mario Cart. It reminded me of the Cosby Show where Theo teaches Rudy to play checkers and she becomes unbeatable. I overheard her say, "Phillip start the game so I can beat you again." Thankfully, Phillip was very good-natured about the whole thing!

Ginnie and Lizzie played "Little People" together all weekend. We swam in the pool and got to see Hot Air Balloons - they were so beautiful!

We had a great, relaxing weekend!

4K

Lizzie is starting 4k! And this is an adorable picture of her with her school bag however it is the wrong dress! If you remember Anna Claire wore a "caterpillar" dress on her first day of school. Lizzie has a matching dress in her closet too but since it is not pink and/or purple it was not picked for the first day of school.

My girl's are very different and had this been Anna Claire I would have made her wear it and she would have been upset for 5 minutes then would move on with life. However, Lizzie is not quite that easy! Had I made her wear the "caterpillar" dress she would be miserable ALL day and she would have made everyone else miserable. Clothes are so important to Lizzie and they are not a battle I choose to fight with her very often. Consequently, she wears the craziest sock-clothes combinations daily. I'm not sure how all this will play out in high school but I'll keep praying about those days. But on the bright side Lizzie will see to it that I am well-dressed as I get older!

Cookies

My sister is a fabulous cook and sometimes it is lost on me because I prefer plain, bland food. Yesterday I got to walk in her shoes and feel how she fells when I say the food she makes is too flavorful. She made me cookies for my birthday and I LOVE her cookies! She gave me white chocolate chip/macadamia nut and these amazing peanut butter/chocolate chip cookies. I offered one to Lizzie after lunch and she turned it down for Keebler Fudge Strips! I was disgusted that she would pass up the opportunity of something so wonderful for something so much less. Then I thought: this must be how Paula fills when I prefer chicken nuggets and tater tots instead of one of her wonderful creations.
The story ends well because there will be more cookies for me!!!
